Digg.com – Turns 5 lets talk about brilliance.

digg

SideWiki ConversationIts amazing to think that Digg is already 5, and then you look at its community of hundreds of millions of users and you can only think, wow! “How is Digg only 5 years old?” As a Social Media Enthusiast I cannot help but admire Kevin Rose, After all, I went from watching him on Screen Savers with Leo Leoparte and then I sorta remember him fading away. And shortly after I found out why. He was busy creating the social future.

Digg is the standard for social bookmarking communities, having a large friends list and popularity on such a strong site is immensely powerful. The usefulness of the company has always been strong and consistent. I used the web archive to follow back all the way to when Digg was a different company, (Kevin Rose bought the name for some cheap sum) http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2009/03/31/kevin-rose-and-tim-ferriss-discuss-naming-companies-angel-investing/. In 2004 the top links for Digg were, in order of appearance: Walking robots, Halo 2 Scorpion jump, and the ZoomQuilt. I looked into ZoomQuilt and found out it’s an awesome collaborative art project. When things are cool, they show up on Digg.
