Google Includes Social Media Sources in Search Results

MySpace recently released some APIs that will stream status updates and the like to other formats like Google’s search engine. This means that Google’s search function could potentially include up-to-the-second MySpace information as part of a search. MySpace could be considered a goldmine of information that has not been properly tapped as of yet. Social media is changing the way the public assimilates information, and industry giants like Google are not interested in missing that boat.
As the social community grows, so do its power and its influence. No doubt, this is only the beginning of a marriage between search results and social media data. Thanks to the internet, we live in a socially connected world; social media is a massive forum in which people can meet. Adding social media results to Google searches only increases social media’s globalizing influence. Economic globalization was just the beginning; now people from all walks of life in almost any country are gaining a voice on the world stage. What does this mean for the future of social media? So far, it looks very, very bright.
